Top Ten Tuesday: Predicted 2020 5 Star Reads

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is books on our TBR we predict will be 5 star reads. I did a post like this last year for a Friday Favorites, so today I’m gonna focus on owned TBR books that I fully plan to read this year that I think will be 5 stars.

Across the Void by SK Vaughn – Every single world in the synopsis for this one calls to me. “Visceral space thriller”? Yes, please! “drifting in the void with only the voice of her estranged husband, a NASA scientist, to guide her back to Earth”? YES, PLEASE! “the only survivor of either an accident—or worse, a deliberate massacre—that has decimated her entire crew”? OMG YES, PLEASE! “What he doesn’t know is that not everyone wants May to make it back alive. Even more terrifying: she might not be alone on that ship”? *dies*

The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samanta Shannon – Dragons! And like a lot of other cool stuff! But DRAGONS!

The Hearts We Sold by Emily Lloyd Jones – I’ve had this book on my radar since it was released but somehow never picked it up. Then I read Jones’ newest book, The Bone Houses and became completely enamored with her eerie and magical writing style. I found myself a *signed* copy of These Hearts We Sold recently, and I will definitely be diving into it soon.

Loki: Where Mischief Lies by Mackenzi Lee – Nineteenth century London and Loki? *chef kiss*

Tempests and Slaughter by Tamora Pierce – OMG WHY HAVE I STILL NOT READ THIS?!? I am a total Numair fangirl and this is a Tortall book ALL ABOUT HIM! I first read the Immortals quartets many, many years ago and fell hard for Numair in those books. When I found out he was getting a whole book for him, I nearly died. And yet…somehow it remains unread .

The Lady Rogue Jenn Bennett – Lady adventurer? SIGN ME UP!

Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston – Another on that has been on my radar for a while. Heck, I’ve had the book for ages (it came in a past OwlCrate I think). Zero idea why I haven’t read it yet, but after seeing someone tweet about the emotional devastation that felt with some plot twists, I am dying to pick this one up. Yes, I like books that hurt me. That probably isn’t good, but I am who I am.

Rules for Vanishing by Kate Alice Marshall – This one is told in found footage style and y’all I can’t say no to that. It is MY FAVORITE!

We Hunt the Flame by Hafsah Faizal – I am DYING to find the time to read this one. My good friend and book reviewer extraordinaire, Sabreena (whose blog is Books and Prosecco and you should def be following her!), raves about this story and reading her review makes me want to pick the book up ASAP.

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Adam Christopher – It’s a freaking Hopper novel! HOPPER! If you know one thing about me, it’s that I love a fictional dysfunctional man in uniform…which is basically Hopper.

Do you have any owned TBR books you predict will be a 5 star read?

  1. I have several of these on my TBR list! I am really excited about Loki bc he’s my favorite Marvel character. I haven’t been seeing the best of reviews though. Sigh!

  2. Okay so your reasoning for The Priory of the Orange Tree cannot be anymore accurate. I would definitely read a book for the dragons. I’ve heard a lot about We Hunt the Flame lately and need to look more into that one. And I didn’t know there was a novel about Hopper! I’ll have to check that out!
A lot of these look really interesting. I hope you enjoy them all!

  3. I have quite a few of these on my TBR but Rules for Vanishing was a surprisingly good read! I thought I’d be too scared to make it through that book but I was so pleasantly wowed! I hope you enjoy all of these and that they end up being five star reads for you 🙂

  4. I haven’t read any of these yet, but I’ve seen The Stranger Things novels around. I wondered if they were any good. I’ll b anxious to hear what you think of the Hopper one. 🙂
